Updated on May 13th, 2020 by Derek Draven: As mentioned in our updated intro, John Wick gets his hands on quite a lot of weapons, and the results are nothing short of destructive. High quality John Wick 2 Movie inspired Art Prints by independent artists and designers from around the world. Many of these weapons are incredibly powerful, while others are only deadly because they're being used by John Wick. We've expanded this list to include 5 more ultra-deadly weapons that reach a whole new level of dangerous when John Wick is wielding them! Throughout the three John Wick movies that have debuted in theaters so far, the titular assassin has used a wide variety of weapons to kill off his enemies. Thanks to the good storytelling, great action sequences, and iconic performance on the part of Keanu Reeves, John Wick may in fact be the most talked-about action hero of the last decade.
John Wick 2 jumped a whopping 114% the second time out, becoming a true-blue breakout sequel, and getting one of the biggest jumps ever from one new wide release franchise-starter to another (relatively sooner afterward) wide release sequel installment.Since the character's debut in 2014, John Wick has quickly become one of the most popular action-movie characters of all time. The Bourne Supremacy jumped 46% ($176 million) from The Bourne Identity's $129m domestic cume, and then Bourne Ultimatum jumped another 29% to $227m. I still think, in terms of box office potential, that John Wick 3 (which brings a host of new actors, including Angelica Houston and Halle Berry, into the fold) is hoping to play like The Bourne Ultimatum.
That's actually something unique about the MCU, as save for Iron Man 2 (less in North America and more overseas than Iron Man) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (less here and abroad than The Avengers), every respective MCU sequel has earned more and more each time out. There are action franchises that went bonkers bananas on the third go-around ( Goldfinger, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, Once Upon A Time in Mexico), but that's usually when a series goes from cult favorite to mainstream biggie. In addition to wide releases from its Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment labels, the Companys film business includes: Pantelion Films, Codeblack Films, Roadside Attractions, and the Lionsgate UK film & television production and distribution company. All of the respective third chapters did well by any rational standard, but there was a slight dip for each.Ĭonversely, there are any number of action threequels ( The Bourne Ultimatum, the X-Men saga, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Thor, etc.) that just kept going up for each installment. Lionsgates Motion Picture Group encompasses eight film labels and more than 40 feature film releases a year. Think Pitch Perfect, Scream or (understandably) The Dark Knight and the Pirates of the Caribbean series, which all peaked (in North America anyway) with their first break-out sequel.
Presuming the Chad Stahelski-directed and Derek Kolstad-penned actioner is anywhere as good as the first two films, the third movie may avoid becoming the kind of franchise that peaks in the second installment.
